 "Amazing" 2010-03-07
By Dom (Phoenix)
This is probably the best money I have spent on a camera. I was sad to hear that Polaroid discontinued the film for their older cameras. Now, I can get amazing instant photos. The photo's come out clear, and the colors come out bold. If you're a fan of the Polaroid feel, and want a fun camera, this is for you. I wouldn't suggest if your looking for the quality of hd pictures. The cameras a little bulky, and the film is expensive, and can go by quick if you're having fun. All in all, its a great cammie and a must have!

If you do buy it, buy it from PhotolandNY! They have the most amazing service. It came so fast and everything was perfect!

"Similar to the Z30, but better for one reason" 2010-05-10
By Yarii (the USA)
I love Fuji cameras - and no, I'm not a Fuji employee, but maybe I should be - I would love an employee discount! This Z37 was a deal I couldn't refuse and I believe this is my 10th Fuji digital camera I've purchased since 2004. I got the purple color and it's beautiful.

I owned the Z30 previously, but at the last minute I decided to gift it to a young relative of mine only because of one thing I disliked about it: On the Z30 the USB plug-in was located INSIDE the camera's battery compartment. I feared the latch would eventually break off since the USB plug, the battery and the memory card were all in the same area.

Instead, the Z37 Fuji has the USB plug on the SIDE of the camera. In addition, this is a multi-use plug. With the Z37 you get an AC adapter cable in addition to the USB cable. The AC adapter charges the battery inside the camera. So unless I'm removing the memory card on this camera, there is no reason to open the battery compartment.

The AC adapter replaces the separate battery charger that comes with the Z30. This also means if your battery runs low, you can use the Z37 with it plugged into an outlet, but of course, this does limit what you can take a picture of, unless it's something near the electric outlet.

The Z37 is slightly thinner than the Z30 but otherwise they appear to be the same. Same LCD size, and the buttons are located in the same configuration. The LCD is big and bright - I have no trouble seeing anything outside in the bright sun. It's tiny and lightweight and easy to carry in either a pocket or small bag - it weighs slightly over 4 ounces.

And since the lens has a cover - and this is the way the camera is powered on/off - by sliding the lens cover open (like the first Fuji digital cameras invented) you almost don't need to buy a separate case....although I do keep mine in a case because I don't like the exterior to get scratched.

Just one complaint with this camera, otherwise it's perfect. There is no good area to hold onto the camera. The entire back is composed of LCD screen and buttons. At least the back area is rubberized so it does help with the grip.

But the pro's way outnumber my single complaint:

>>> Quick response when opening the lens cover to take the first shot

>>> SR Auto - just point and shoot

>>> Takes beautiful pictures

>>> Fast response time after taking a flash picture

>>> Lithium-ion battery - one charge lasts over 200 pictures

>>> Takes good videos - better than my expensive Panasonic Lumix

Note about the videos: You can't use optical zoom once you start filming, but you can set it before. You can use digital zoom after you start filming, but you have to turn it on before-hand in the set-up menu. They aren't HD but they look pretty good.

Note about the SR Auto setting: This setting drains the battery a little quicker, because the lens and sensor is constantly evaluating and focusing whatever you have the camera pointed at - the lens noise is completely normal and nothing to worry about. If you don't want to hear the lens focusing, just set the camera on regular Auto instead (the picture of the camera icon).

In conclusion: This is a good entry-level camera and I recommend it for just about anyone who is looking for an easy to use camera. Even a young kid. And it's built tougher than it appears - since the lens zooms INSIDE the camera body. Case in point: Two days after I received my Z30, it slipped out of my hands and hit the kitchen floor (my condo is built on a slab). I thought the camera was broken, but I turned it back on and was none worse for the wear. Not even a scratch. This Z37 appears to be built just as tough as the Z30 which I dropped.

It comes with just 18 MB of internal memory, so pick up an SD card if you don't already have one.

 "Great Camera" 2010-04-11

"Good value, but won't charge or transfer files" 2010-01-07
By FTM (Palatine, IL United States)
At just over $100, this camera is a nice value, but the USB cable (or maybe the camera itself) doesn't work for transferring pictures or charging the battery. It was easy to work around this with the purchase of a card reader and an external battery charger, but be prepared for these extra expenses. In general, the camera feels a little cheap, which probably isn't surprising for the money. Despite its flaws, it's an attractive camera with great features for the money.

 "Solid film" 2009-01-18
By Mr. Ben (mid-michigan)
My main reason for preferring this film is because, as far as color goes, this is rich color with a reasonably high ISO. I'm not really that worried about grain since that's part of the draw of shooting film nowadays (at least it is for me).

When I shoot on film, I use a Pentax ME Super without a flash, hence why I use ISO 800, since when I'm at f/2.8 I can shoot comfortably in a reasonably well lit room. And when I'm shooting on overcast days, this film still keeps the pictures looking good.

The final reason that this is most often in my camera (if I'm not shooting Kodak bw4oocn) is because its affordable and readily available. Fuji makes great film and this is a solid performer for general use.

My only concern is that I've had some issues with the film being to tight and it some rolls have been a little hard to load or to catch on the winder (its simply harder to pull out of the cassette). Half of that is user error, but it seems like I have to try more often to get this film to catch in the mechanism (and in an point and shoot camera you probably won't notice if the film isn't actually advancing). Just be careful loading and it should all go smoothly.

 "Como un chicle" 2008-02-15
By Julio Benavides Campos (Bucaramanga, CO)
Es una película muy elástica en su capacidad para exponer las sombras y las zonas muy iluminadas. Un buen balance de color y una plástica muy buena en los tonos intermedios. Le hace a uno pensar que la película todavía sigue siendo una opción para fotografiar.

"Best 800 Speed Film on the Market" 2006-01-11
By Nick Tropiano (Havertown, PA United States)
This is a pretty amazing film, all things considered. It's fast with less grain than some 400 speed films, imo. Colors are as vivid as it gets for a film this speed, and it can be used outdoors. This film is very versatile. So much so, that I generally use this now instead of 400 speed films if shooting with focal lenghts beyond the standard 50. It's also quite inexpensive. Don't even bother with the Kodak 800 speed films. Though more readily available, this Fuji product is /way/ superior in every respect.

"Rich colors, especially for landscapes" 2005-08-20
By David J. Osborne (Silverdale, WA USA)
A few years ago I discovered by accident that this 800 film produces vibrantly colorful prints in all levels of light. Now I use it in bright, sunny locations without hesitation, as well as indoors, and with flash. Outdoor scenes with lots of greenery are especially saturated with color.

My only complaint is minor - caucasion complexions tend to appear slightly pale, unless focus and exposure are set especially for the skin. That's not enough to keep me from using the film, though. My specialty is photographing children at play outdoors, and this film has become my "default" film when I can't predict sun/shade situations. I know I'll be fine no matter what conditions are when it's picture time.

 "Awesome film!" 2004-07-06
By carolyn (Canal Winchester, OH)
I use this film in my Canon Rebel and just love it! Most of what I take looks like a postcard with this film. I've photographed things in the worst lighting conditions with no problems whatsoever with this film. It can be light at times, depending on the developer, but all-in-all, I'm VERY satisfied with this film and buy it quite frequently. Most of what I use it for are photographs of family, but it is also used for items pictured on ebay and it just does a wonderful job. I can't recommend this film enough!

 "Scuba delight" 2010-07-25
By E. Scioli (LA, CA)
First rule of under water photography is distance. No greater than 8 feet of water between you and the object. According to physics; light travels slower under water than in air, therefore the amount of light the camera can capture with its limited disposable camera lens is smaller than in air.

I purchased this camera at a dive shop with the understanding of limited distance. The pictures came out fantastically! Of the 27 exposures 1 picture did not come out; octopus rarely stay still for pictures.

 "Bad Camera!!!" 2010-05-26
By R. Hauser
I purchased 2 of these cameras to use in a water park, not one picture came out! My friend had the same issue. I suggest only get these if you are in the carribian with the sun blasting otherwise you are wasting your money and will be dissipointed because your family vacation photos wont come out.

 "Decent" 2010-05-05
By J. Bunzey (Atlanta, GA)
Took snorkeling off St. Croix. Where the light was good, the pictures turned out ok but the color was more blue than necessary. I was able to color balance the digital copies I got to make most turn out pretty good but the prints from development were too blue in almost all cases.

 "Not so Great" 2009-09-17
By G. M. Beatty-Tinsay (Portland, Oregon)
I used this camera in Hawaii. Any pictures taken underwater with this camera should be extremely close range, no more than a couple feet away, and the water has to be very clear and extremely well lit. The pictures will be a bit grainy and fuzzy. Which is to be expected to a certain degree. The best purpose for this camera is taking pictures in the water, but not necessarily under the water except under ideal conditions. I wasn't too happy with this one, might be worth the extra cash to get one with flash on it, becaues at the end of the day when only a few pictures turn out, it's not really worth it.

"Can't beat this camera for underwater" 2008-11-30

Each year I purchase a couple of these cameras for our snorkeling trips or just horsing around in the pool. They take great pics, have a rubberband type handle so you don't loose them in the water, and they're very inexpensive. Especially great for kids to use.
